Slingshot Wake is set on a mission, to perfect what nature has given us:  WOOD.  They believe there is no better core material for achieving the best flex performance in a wakeboard.  Scrutinizing every piece of wood, even to the point of where it comes from the tree (only “clear wood” is accepted, meaning fewer knots),  Slingshot has developed three different wood cores for all the different intended uses and characteristics of their wakeboard models. Slingshot Atomic Core:  The guts of the Slingshot Recoil, Reflex, Response, and Pearl line of boards.  The Atomic Core is made in Slingshot’s own wood shop with 100% Columbian Gold*.  This core has the highest compression response ever used in a wakeboard. With half the glue weight, and absorbing less resin weight, the entire core offers optimum stability, smoother flex, and a more powerful pop.

As half of the AWS crew is setting up in Seattle, the rest of us are left with a bit of a Portland boat show hangover.  After a week of trucking in 22 boats, recreating our retail shop in the middle of the Expo Center, and talking non-stop for 4 days to some of our favorite customers, industry reps, and pros, it’s no wonder we’re left feeling a little down and missing the high of the action packed boat show.

Some people cure their hangovers with Xanax, greasy food, and coffee, but a boat show hangover requires a little more emotional therapy than that.  What better way to brighten our post boat show mood than by re-living some of our favorite boat show memories?  Here’s a quick recap and a few photos that made the Portland Boat Show one of the best for Active Water Sports.

Liquid Force and Artist Drew Brophy Team Up for 3rd Trip Series Wakeboards
PRESS RELEASE – Encinitas, CA – September 23, 2010

Liquid Force, the premier manufacturer of the wakeboarding products and apparel, has signed a deal with Drew Brophy to license artwork once again for their Trip wakeboard series.

Brophy and Liquid Force have collaborated on wakeboard graphics for almost fifteen years. They first joined forces in 1997, when Liquid Force rolled out the inaugural, revolutionary multi-fin wakeboard. They added Brophy’s bright, trippy graphics for a full effect and the first Trip wakeboard was born.

Liquid Force Founder, Jimmy Redmon, explained his decision to work with Brophy on the first Trip graphics, “Drew was creating art that no one else was. His style was so unique.”

Brophy liked that “Liquid Force wasn’t scared to use my wild artwork. They allowed me the freedom to create something bold!”

The original abstract painting created by Brophy for the 2011 graphics is 8′ long by 6′ tall. What makes the 2011 Trip series design so unique is that the artwork was designed to span over five boards and was utilized to embellish both the base and the top of the boards.
