2012 Wakesurf Buyers Guide
by activewake on Feb.22, 2012, under Active Water Sports, ActiveWake.com
Wakesurfing has exploded in popularity over the last few years. There’s nothing quite like catching an endless wave while your friends and family cheer you on from the back of the boat. Wakesurfing is exciting and easy to learn which makes it the perfect addition to your watersports quiver.
What Size Board Should I Get?
This is probably the most common question we get at the shop. Generally, the bigger the surfer the easier it is to learn on. If you are just starting out you will probably want to go with something that is around 5′4-5′6 like the Liquid Force Fish or the Hyperlite Idylwood. You might also need a larger board if your boat doesn’t put out a very big wake.
If you are a more advanced surfer you are going to want the speed and maneuverability that a shorter board will offer (4′6-5′2). Boards like the Ronix Koal and the Liquid Force Custom Quad will be able to react much quicker than larger boards.
What’s The Difference Between Compression Molded and Composite Style (Surf) Surfers?
Compression Molded Surfers are built in a similar fashion to wakeboards. They are heavier and more durable which is better for beginners and they are typically less expensive than Composite Boards. We recommend the Hyperlite Broadcast, Ronix Cortez, and the Liquid Force Fish.
Composite Style Surfers feature a surfboard style construction with a foam core and hand layered glass. Composite style surfers are lighter and more buoyant but they are also more fragile and susceptible to dings. This style of surfer is also better for airs and it will provide a better performance in smaller waves. Composite style boards are generally a little more expensive than compression boards because of their technical advances. We recommend the Liquid Force Noserider, Ronix The Duke Longboard, and the Liquid Force Custom.
Wakesurf Ropes
Wakesurfing ropes are thicker and shorter than a standard wakeboard rope. They are designed to get you into the “sweet-spot” of the wake and they will also save your hands from rope burn. We recommend the Ronix Surf Combo W/Handle, and the Liquid Force T-Grip Surf Rope.

Should I Use Ballast?
If you don’t have 8 200lb. Men in your boat it might be a good idea to invest in some wakesurf specific ballast. The Fly High V Drive Wake Surf Sac adds 400 lbs. of Ballast

NEW Supra Launch 242 Wakeboard Boat
by activewake on Aug.02, 2010, under Supra Boats
(Wakeboardingmag.com) Supra Boats’ all-new flagship wakeboard boat, the 2011 Supra Launch 242, will mark its debut by pulling the pro divisions at Wakeboard Worlds, the decisive event on the 2010 King of Wake World Series. WAKEBOARDING recently received a sneak peek at the Supra Launch 242 on Lake Tellico, near Supra Boats headquarters in Maryville, Tennessee. We came away impressed.
The 24′1″ Supra Launch 242 is build on a brand-new hull that’s designed to both maintain the pro-level wakes of the Launch 242’s predecessor, the Supra Launch 24V, and increase the wakeboard boat’s stability and interior space. It succeeds on both accounts.
Any questions about the Supra Launch 242’s wakes were dismissed when we loaded up the boat and went out for a session with Supra Boats rider Amber Wing. The first female rider to land a 900 didn’t disappoint, laying down much of her trick arsenal, including a super-tweaked off-axis melon 3 that WAKEBOARDING has been admiring lately.
The Supra Launch 242’s interior won’t have any trouble handling all the judges, photographers and rope girls that Wakeboard World’s can throw at. The main cockpit is almost two feet longer than that of the Launch 24V, and the wakeboard boat comes outfitted with luxury touches like Supra’s new snakeskin vinyl and recessed speaker boxes.
While riders will be plenty pumped on the Supra Launch 242’s wakes, the happiest person at Wakeboard Worlds might be the towboat driver. For starters, he’ll be sitting in the Launch 242’s new height-adjustable driver’s seat, which he can raise or lower a full five inches. Plus, he can swivel around to easily snag a cold beverage from his own built-in cooler. Last but not least, he’ll be sitting in front of the new Supra VISION system, which aggregates almost all of the wakeboard boat’s functions into a easy-to-use LCD control system.

Leave a Comment more...2011 Malibu Boats NEW Touch Command Screen
by activewake on Jul.27, 2010, under Malibu Boats

New Malibu Touch Command (MTC)
The new Malibu Touch Command (MTC) is amazing on so many different levels; what it is, what it does and the fact that it is standard on all Wakesetters and Sunscapes. Made with Projective Capacitive Touch Technology typically reserved for high-end personal digital devices, you won’t find a feature like MTC in a high performance car let alone anywhere else in the boating industry. Malibu Boats is way ahead of the game with touch-sensitive switching based on intuitive hi-res graphical menus of the boat’s functions. Command ballast control, Wedge adjustment, interior lighting, coded keyless ignition, available GPS navigation and more.
New Coded Keyless Ignition
Forget the keys. Go ahead. You won’t need them in a 2011. All Malibu Wakesetter and Sunscape models have keyless ignition standard. Type in your code, touch the “Start Engine” icon and motor. No more worries about getting to the lake and forgetting the keys. Malibu’s got you covered.

New Dash and Components
Performance aside, the 2011 dash looks bad in a good way! You’ve never seen a dash like the one you’ll find in a 2011 Malibu boat. The MTC projective capacitive touch screen combined with the new Italian-made Isotta Vista Steering Wheel, the available MaliView Dash System and Rockford Fosgate Stereo touch pad; let it all sink in. Now consider the functionality housed in this dash and it’s almost unbelievable. MaliView and the Rockford Fosgate Sound System have even been upgraded for 2011 to include USB video playback and increased iPod/iPhone control. Just when you think boat design has been taken as far as it can go, Malibu Boats does it one better.
