Axis Signs Ronix Rider – Dean Smith

by courtney on Apr.21, 2011, under Active Water Sports, Axis Boats

Axis Wake Research welcomes the free-riding, massive air professional Australian wakeboarder Dean Smith to the team. Check out the video Alliance Wake Magazine put together of Dean shreddin behind the A22.

Axis Wake Research in the USA and Australia are welcoming Dean Smith to their Factory Pro Team because just like Axis wake boats, he is all about charging hard and doing it with style. Smith wanted a boat that would allow him to take his “go big or go home,” attitude into every riding session as well as every competition. It’s this approach that earned the Australian Pro the 2010 WWA Men’s Wakeboard World Championship title. A fun, unassuming guy, Smith has the heart of a lion and conducts himself with true professionalism. Together with his massive tricks and free-riding style, Smith’s character makes him a perfect fit for Axis Wake Research. Smith rides and lives each day to the fullest and that’s how these boats perform; like today is your best day on the water. Axis is proud to call Deano, as he is affectionately known, a member of the family.

It’s Just Like Dancing

by courtney on Apr.13, 2011, under Active Water Sports

Radar Lake Slalom Water SkiingOur friends at Radar Skis summed up the act of finding the perfect ski like finding the perfect dance partner:

Riding a ski is like dancing.  The longer you have danced with your partner, the more in sync you become.  You know your partner’s every move and you soon are able to make effortless flowing moves without a second thought of how your ski/partner will react to your motions.

In addition, trying a new ski is like dancing with a new partner for the first time.  Our suggestion to you in trying any new ski is to slow down the pace for  “a song” or two and let your new ski/partner lead.  If you can take a step back and learn how your new ski is going to move, you will be able to add your own style into your new routine and soon will be moving flowingly again.  By following for a minute, you will same time in the long run, and your toes won’t get stepped on.

Ready to try a new step or get a new partner? Check out our new 2011 Ski Selection and read our Ski Buyers Guide for more help finding the right mate.

Cold Water Combat – Your Guide to Neoprene

by courtney on Apr.01, 2011, under Active Water Sports

Greg Pre SeasonStart your season early or extend it well into the Fall with a little help from your new best friend, NeopreneWetsuits, Drysuits, and Rashguards all help add warmth and protection to your on-water season.

Rashguards and Neoprene Tops will give you light warmth on the top half of your body.  These items are usually made of 1-2mm thick neoprene and are a good way to keep your upper core warm during cold summer days.

For more warmth, look into a wetsuit.  Wetsuits are available in a variety of neoprene measurements.  We recommend using a 3/2 or a 4/3 for Spring and Fall wakeboarding and waterskiing.

The ultimate season extender is a Drysuit.  A dry suit allows you to wear as much insulating clothing as you need (think base layer, fleece, etc) and then you pull the drysuit on over it all.  The tight neoprene seals at the wrists, neck, and ankles keep all water from coming in and you stay completely dry!

Have you Met Bill and Frank?

by courtney on Mar.14, 2011, under Active Water Sports

Meet Bill and Frank.  They’re kind of like that side of your conscience that urges you to push the limits just a little further.  They’re also the inspiration behind Adam Errington’s pro- model Ronix Collection.

Ronix Bill and Frank

Skate inspiration meets disco style to create a jib friendly, lively ride in the Ronix My Name Is Collection.  The Ronix Bill and Frank Collection is for the younger generation, catering to both guys and girls.  Inspired by the new perspectives of Adam Errington, the My Name Is Collection is aimed towards the fresh, fun crew of up- and-coming riders.  The Ronix Bill Wakeboard features poppy, modern graphics with a little more flex, a hybrid, 3-Stage rocker, and a sintered base for jibbing.  The Ronix Frank Boot is an all-around good boot for the all-around wakeboarder.  Top off this collection with the Ronix Bill Vest, a pullover style impact vest with loud graphics.
